Description

The MI/JD combined degree is a 4-year course of study leading to the combined degrees Master of Information (MI) and Juris Doctor (JD). A total of 12 half-credit MI courses (36 credit hours) and 79 to 83 JD credit hours are needed to complete the MI/JD program.

Admissions

Separate application packages must be submitted to each department.
Students who apply for the combined MI/JD program must meet the admissions standards of both the Schulich School of Law and the Department of Information Science.

  • Not all courses are offered every year. It is the students' responsibility to ensure they plan their schedule accordingly. Combined degree students are advised on an individual basis to assist with course selection.

  • INFO 5570: To be taken in the final year of the MI/JD degree.
  • Students may take electives outside the program.
  • As indicated in section 5.1 of the Graduate Studies Calendar (under “Program Fee Programs”), combined degree students must register for REGN 9999 in every term to ensure fees are generated properly. This course is listed as “Registration Course-Graduate” in the Academic Timetable.
