Note: On the RO application form, please include exactly 120 credit hours that you intend to take to complete your degree including all required courses. It must be the case that the 120 credit hours included must be such that satisfy all degree requirements, general and major-specific. This may require drawing extra lines in the margins of the form. Use the format: ECONXXXX.0Y where Y = credit hours per course.Â
Courses to take prior to applying
Prospective Honours students are advised to complete all 5 MATH/STAT requirements by the end of your second year.  In particular, to satisfy prerequisite requirements for 3rd year required Honour’s courses, students must complete MATH1000 and STAT/MATH2060 by the beginning of the fall term of 3rdÌý²â±ð²¹°ù..
In 3rd year, students take ECON3338 and ECON3700 in the fall term, and it is highly recommended to take ECON3339 in the winter termÂ
In 4th year, Honour and Majors students are heavily encouraged to take 4th year elective courses in addition to the required 4th year Honours courses.
Students should complete an approved writing course prior to applying to Honours with a minimum grade of B.
Grades converted to PASS and eligibility for Honours
One of the criteria for a student to be admitted to Honours (Concentrated or Combined) is to have at least a “B+†average (GPA of 3.3 or above) in Economics courses at the 2000 level and above, with no grade lower than a C.  Although there is no impact of the number of courses converted to PASS for admission to Honours, satisfaction of the GPA requirement will be based on the original grade received. For example, if a student received a “B-“ in an Econ2000 level course that was converted to PASS, admission to Honours will be based on the GPA calculated using the original “B-“ grade.Â
