Terms of Reference

The QFSC Terms of Reference apply to all locations of HÂþ» University Campuses and the University of King’s College.

What We Do

1. We create safe spaces to discuss and enhance 2SLGBTQIA+ equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging;

2. We facilitate community-building events for staff and faculty that centre 2SLGBTQIA+ voices;

3. We work with campus and community partners to advocate for meaningful 2SLGBTQIA+ representation at all levels of our Universities;

4. We work with relevant others across our Universities, including the various bargaining units, to ensure equitable treatment in promotion and job opportunities, and a welcoming work environment that is free of discrimination and microaggressions, particularly in relation to sexual orientation and gender identity;

5. We advocate for change across our Universities, including the development and amendment of policies impacting upon the lived experience of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities;

6. We work in collaboration with other Staff and Faculty Caucuses to address institutional barriers faced by 2SLGBTQIA+ communities with intersecting identities and experiences;

7. We advocate for expanded curricular offerings reflecting 2SLGBTQIA+ experiences, the creation of learning environments in which 2SLGBTQIA+ students can thrive, and supported scholarly and research activities, incorporating Queer Studies.

Note: We have drawn from the excellent work of the Black Faculty & Staff Caucus in the creation of these Terms of Reference.
