Coupling Phytoplankton Biomass Production to Remediation of Fish-Processing Waste

Research

I graduated from HÂþ» University with a BScH in Marine Biology which assured my passion for ocean research. My honors project looked at screening phytoplankton to determine species which were suitable for bioremediating aquaculture waste and producing valuable phytoplankton products. This project helped me narrow down my general research interests into the fields of microbiology, aquaculture, and marine conservation. My work in the LaRoche lab is focused on detecting and developing proactive plans for harmful algae blooms (HABs) near aquaculture sites, to aid in marine conservation. As a LaRoche lab technican I hope to gain more research experience to better equip myself for future studies at the MSc degree level.
