Research Funding

The Jakeman laboratory investigates enzymes involved in carbohydrate biosynthesis due to the important role of these enzymes in infectious diseases, cancer, diabetes or inflammation. The compelling choice of research problem has ensured that the laboratory has been funded through a number of sources.

At the federal level, the Jakeman laboratory has been funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), and the Canadian Foundation for Innovation (CFI).

At the provincial level, the Jakeman laboratory has been funded by various not-for-profit cancer charities and the Nova Scotia Health Research Foundation.

At the international level, the Jakeman laboratory has been funded by the Mizutani Glycosicence Foundation of Japan.

Many trainees have received federal NSERC or CIHR training awards as USRA students, graduate students or PDF fellows.
