SITE Co-op Office Overview

The Science, Information Technology, Engineering (SITE) Co-operative Education program provides opportunities for students to enhance their studies with career-focused work term experiences. SITE Co-op enables over 1000 students annually to apply classroom theory, explore career options and build professional attributes in 23 programs across three faculties.

The Science, IT, Engineering (SITE) Co-op Office is seeking multiple Co-op Student Ambassadors for the 2019 summer semester.

The responsibilities of the role will include

  • communicating to students via regular class announcements and in-class presentations
  • communicating with students via social media and discussion boards
  • providing feedback to the SITE co-op office from students
  • attending events/workshops with, and on behalf of, SITE co-op office
  • attend regular bi-weekly meetings (~6 total) and actively participate in team discussion boards

Please note that this opportunity is open to all Science, IT, and Engineering students currently enrolled in a co-op program who have completed at least 1 co-op work term.Ìý The SITE Co-op office aims to secure an Ambassador for the following disciplines and areas of interest:

Science

  • Biochemistry & Molecular Biology
  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Physics and Atmospheric Science
  • Earth Science
  • Environmental Science
  • EconomicsÌý
  • Marine Biology
  • Math & Stats
  • Microbiology & Immunology

Computer Science

  • Computer Science
  • Applied Computer Science

Engineering

  • Electrical Engineering
  • Environmental Engineering
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Mineral Resources Engineering

Please note that this is NOT a co-op position, it is a part-time position (~25 – 30 hours per term). All Co-op Student Ambassadors who successfully complete their responsibilities and term will receive a reversal of $500 on their student account at the end of the term.

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate will have experience with the following

  • public speaking
  • professionalism
  • leadership
  • communication (verbal and written)
  • student engagement or large group engagement
  • social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram)
  • event coordination and support
