Math Workshop

The Department offers a Math Workshop that is designed to ensure that new students have the mathematical tools needed for the Master’s courses. It covers topics such as single and multi-variable calculus; linear algebra; unconstrained, constrained and dynamic optimization. No registration is required but all incoming graduate students are expected to attend. 

Courses Offered and Registration

Graduate students can register online usually beginning sometime in March at and must register for the course #REGN 9999, section 1. The CRNs for 2024-25 academic year are CRN 13862 (Fall), 23707 (Winter) and TBA (Summer). CRNs can be found on the academic timetable. Students will select specific courses after arrival on campus and in consultation with the graduate coordinator.

Funding

The University and Department offer, on a competitive basis, a limited number of scholarships, teaching assistantships, and research assistantships. Students are encouraged to submit their admission applications by December 31st to be nominated by the Department for these awards. All students are automatically considered for HÂþ»­ financial awards, so no special scholarship application process is required.  In addition, students are encouraged to pursue other sources of funding outside HÂþ»­. Obtaining application forms, etc. for such external awards is the responsibility of the student applying for the award. The Faculty of Graduate Studies manages several scholarship competitions throughout the year for both current and prospective students.
