Undergraduate studies

Since its inception in 1966, the School of Health and Human Performance has achieved and maintained a reputation for graduating well-prepared professionals. Graduates receive a first-rate education at HÂþ»­ and go on to make a real difference in their communities.

Students in any of the four undergraduate programs can take part in interprofessional learning with students in other health professions programs. This opportunity helps them prepare for the teamwork that takes place in health-care settings around the world. 

Our students can also complete internshipÌý²¹²Ô»å volunteer opportunities to benefit from those already honing their skills in the field, or conducting research.

Each of the undergraduate programs reflect current practice. As well, the small sizes of our classes allows students to really get to know their professors and each other.

Our four undergraduate programs are:

  1. Bachelor of Health Promotion: Encouraging health and well-being of individual and their communities. Career and future study opportunities are growing as governments, organizations, and private businesses see the value in preventative health and enhancing wellness. 
  2. Bachelor of Science Kinesiology: a multidisciplinary approach to the study of human movement. Job opportunities related to this health discipline are available in a variety of sectors such as athletics, ergonomics, health and safety and personal training. 
  3. Bachelor of Science Recreation – Bachelor of Management: a unique 5 year accredited program in which students earn two degrees (Recreation and Management) graduating with a strong background in recreation and management field 
  4. Bachelor of Science Recreation – Therapeutic Recreation: The goal of this accredited is to prepare competent entry-level recreational therapists in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behaviour) learning domains, to work in a variety of settings as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS).
