Pediatric Eye Disease Investigator Group

The Pediatric Eye Disease Investigator Group (PEDIG) is a network of eye care and clinical research professionals dedicated to pursuing multicenter research in strabismus, amblyopia and other eye disorders that affect children. The network was formed in 1997 with funding from the US Federal government through the National Eye Institute (NEI), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). There are currently 120 sites in the US, Canada and UK. The PVSRG has been a PEDIG site since 2010 under Principal Investigator Dr. Robert LaRoche and site Investigator Dr. Naeem Nabi.

Foundation Fighting Blindness Patient Registry

The Foundation Fighting Blindness Patient Registry is a tool to help connect people living with inherited eye diseases to scientists studying these conditions. People with retinitis pigmentosa, Stargardt disease, Leber congenital amaurosis and all other inherited forms of retinal degenerative disease are welcome to participate.

The database was first established at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto under the direction of Dr. Elise Héon.ÌýIt has now expanded to centres across the country with enrollment sites established in Vancouver and Edmonton.

The PVSRG hosts the Halifax site for the Patient Registry under the direction of Dr. Johane Robitaille and Dr. Alan Cruess.
