BA '03
I graduated from HÂþ» with an advanced double major in French/Spanish in 2003. Since then I studied international business in France in 2004/2005 and worked for five years in the private sector as a bilingual agent with CIBC/TD Bank, before moving on to work five more years as a bilingual agent with the Province of Nova Scotia where I earned the Prix Bonjour for excellence in French services in 2013. Although I took French immersion growing up, it wasn't until I went to France on a Rotary exchange that I gained an appreciation for the French language and culture. It was this new found passion that ultimately led me to the HÂþ» French Department, where I found the course selection and exchange opportunities that I needed to stay interested and challenge myself. I credit the small class size and passionate professors for dotting the i's and crossing the t's of my French language skills that elevated my knowledge from a useful travel tool, to being able to work confidently in both of Canada's official languages. At the end of the day, French is no longer something I know but rather a part of who I am. Â Thanks to the dedicated professors who inspired me each and every day. And by the way, my favourite book is Le Petit Prince.Ìý
