Important information needed for new Federal Government requirements

Effective the 2019 tax year, all designated educational institutions are now required to provide Canada Revenue Agency with students' Social Insurance Numbers (SIN) on Form T2202 (Education and Textbook Amounts Certificate).

As a result of this new requirement, H must collect SINs for all students. In order to facilitate the collection of this information and to ensure the privacy of this personal identification information students are requested to enter their SIN through Dalonline (https://dalonline.dal.ca/).  H University is collecting the SIN of its students for government reporting purposes only and we will protect the privacy of information provided.

Please visit Dalonline (https://dalonline.dal.ca/) and add your SIN via your “Personal Information” tab by selecting the “View/Update Biographical Information” option.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q.            What is a SIN?

A.             The Social Insurance Number (SIN) is a nine-digit number that is needed to work in Canada or to have access to government programs and benefits. You also need a SIN to file Canadian taxes.

Q.            Why should I provide my SIN number to H University?

Q.            How can I provide this information?

A.             No, E-mail communications are not secure so please do not send your SIN via email.

Q.            What if I have already provided my SIN?

Q.            What happens if I refuse to submit my SIN?

A.             Your SIN is confidential. You should provide your SIN only when it is legally required.
