Our goal is to undertake basis and translational research relevant to the understanding of obesity, diabetes, polycystic ovary syndrome and infertiity.
Our activities benefit fromt he state-of-the-art equipment for cellular, molecular and in vivo investigations as welll as clinical facilities within the at the IWK Health Centre. Our current projects include:
- role of orexigenic hormone ghrelin in insulin resistance and obesity
- feeding and hormonal abnormalities in Alzheimer's mice models
- identification of follicular fluid biomarkers of oocyte developmental competence
- processing of ProApelin and the role of apelin in adipogenesis
