HÂþ»­ University offers an Interdisciplinary PhD program. Now the largest PhD program at Dal, it is the only program of its kind in Canada. Students in the explore research questions that can't be answered within a single discipline. Students often combine two or more traditional disciplines, as well as other fields of study that may in themselves be interdisciplinary.

The faculty at the School of Health and Human Performance welcome applications for interdisciplinary doctoral studies in the area of health promotion research. In fact, a couple of our current faculty members completed the Interdisciplinary PhD program and now bring their range of knowledge and expertise to their current teaching.

Interested persons should contact individual faculty members to identify potential supervisors. Information about the application process and the necessary forms are available from the Faculty of Graduate Studies' .

Prospective students may be eligible for funding through scholarship programs at NSERC, SSHRC, CIHR or from the Nova Scotia Health Research Foundation (NSHRF). Within HÂþ»­ University, funding possibilities include Killam scholarships and support through the Faculty of Health Professions. Post-doctoral positions may be available through individual faculty research programs.
