Michelle Mahoney   Schulich School of Law

Michelle immediately made me feel like a member of the team when I started in my position in January - she went out of her way to make me feel welcome and is an all around fantastic person!

Rebecca Parker

Dr. Catherine Sheffer and Professor Beth Taylor   Faculty of Health, School of Nursing

Exemplar leadership and guidance from the Associate and Assistant Directors' of the BSCN program (Cathy and Beth) enabled faculty at the Yarmouth campus to continue to offer high-quality programming and maintain clinical practice for our nursing students. A genuine and heartfelt thank you to them from all of the students and faculty at the Yarmouth campus for their compassion, caring, and support to find new and innovative ways to engage our nursing students during the pandemic!

Shelley Cobbett

Emily Thompson    Department of Engineering; SuperNOVA at HÂþ»

Em has been such a great ally in the workplace, especially in the last few months! Whenever we have a meeting with new staff or partners, she introduces herself with her pronouns and it's made it easier for me to share mine too! We onboarded a lot of new staff last week and she set the standard by introducing her pronouns first, and the practice was organically taken on by all the new people, who shared theirs too. No only did I feel comfortable sharing my pronouns that are newer to the workplace, but our whole team was able to learn everyones pronouns without making assumptions. Thanks Em, you rock!

David Packer     Faculty of Open Learning and Career Development

David is retiring on June 30th after ten years leading our English Language Studies Department at the Faculty of Open Learning and Career Development. David's work has impacted thousands of international students as they learned English to move forward with their degree studies and careers. David created many innovative and impactful courses and programs over the years and led the department through the pivot to fully online learning last year. Happy retirement, David!

Dianne Tyers

Heather Elliott    Faculty of Computer Science

For her exemplar humanity that rubs on everyone working with her. This goes beyond what her role calls for... and I doubt that many get thanks for being helpful/supportive from students exiting the academic integrity process!

Christian Blouin

Angela Barrett-Jewers     Dal Athletics

When the Dal Bookstore needed to recruit a diverse and dedicated group of students to model samples from its collection of Dal-branded clothing, they called on Dal Athletics. Tim Maloney and his team were quick to step up to help, with Angela agreeing to work with their coaches and staff to find enthusiastic participants. After the success of the first shoot, a second one was organized. This time, Angela was not only able to find willing models from their talented pool of varsity athletes, but, working with their facilities management team, she was able to also secure the Sexton gym as a shooting location. Big shout-out to Angela, Tim and the rest of the Dal Athletics team for making the first-ever shoot of its kind a huge success.

Kelly Marshall      Faculty of Agriculture, Accounting

Kelly Marshall has been the most effective support staff that I've ever come across at HÂþ». He goes above and beyond, is always positive and helpful and is always solution focused. He is a HUGE asset to our university and is totally deserving of a shout out. Thank you Kelly for what you give to our campus everyday. It is greatly appreciated.

Susanna Morash-Kent     Faculty of Architecture and Planning

For over 13 years Susanna has been an enormous source of support to me in my position in Architecture and Planning. She is kind and respectful to everyone and always does her best to support and help her colleagues however she can. She remembers every holiday and takes every occasion to show gratitude which is so rare and special. She impacts many of the students and staff with her positive and caring spirit.

Anne Swan

Katherine Rudolph    Office of Planning & Analytics

Katherine has played an integral role in the Return to Campus phased approach. She has worked tirelessly behind the scenes answering questions, processing requests, and coordinating our information and record management across various aspects of the RTC work. Katherine is an outstanding colleague!

Leanne French

Adam Robertson & Susan Robertson     Financial Services & Registrar's Office

These two Robertsons have been excellent friends and confidants over the past year. It's always important to have people you can rely on at work- this year that has been DOUBLE true. Thanks, Adam and Susan. You're the best.

Jasmine (she/her) Walsh

Leslie Phillmore     Faculty of Science

The 'Queen of COVID' was detrimental to getting our in-person field courses approved for summer 2021. She bridged the gap between the instructors and the Health and Safety/Return to Campus teams, keeping the application process as smooth as possible. All applications for in-person field courses were approved.

Jen Frail-Gauthier

Dr. Alex Brodsky     Faculty of Computer Science

Thank you Alex for being a truly inspiring and supportive colleague, a caring instructor, a thoughtful curriculum committee chair, and for numerous other things you are constantly involved in. Your work, though often behind the scenes, positively impacts both faculty and students at FCS.

Khurram Aziz

Dr. Stephen Parcell    Faculty of Architecture and Planning, School of Architecture

1) For always seeing the global picture. 2) for keeping us connected, advised, on track! 3) For all he does for staff, students and faculty! He is the supreme guru. Thank you.

Creative Team    Creative Services (Communications, Marketing & Creative Services)

The entire creative team has gone above and beyond during the pandemic to produce top-quality projects under less than ideal conditions and an ever increasing workload. Couldn't have done the work-from-home thing without them.

Stephanie Rogers

Nick Pearce and Brenna MacNeil    Creative Services (Communications, Marketing & Creative Services)

Our first major project within the pandemic was a Faculty of Agriculture cookbook. Brenna worked remotely from Cape Breton on the design and joined us virtually and Nick's photography was second-to-none. Our cookbook went on to win a Bronze medal within CCAE. Couldn't have done it without these two.
