Effective December 31, 2019, the price of the University's base 100% recycled 20 lb. bond office paper supplied through Printing Services for use in departmental printers and multifunctional devices will increase as follows:
SIZE |
Previous Price |
New price |
8.5 X 11 |
$45.14 |
$ 52.80 |
8.5 X 14 |
$59.30 |
$ 67.00 |
11 X 17 |
$45.95 |
$ 51.92 |
The  increase, which ranges between 13 and 17%, is a result of  higher transportation costs, increases in the cost of fiber (pulp and recycled paper) which is the single largest input cost for paper manufacturing—representing up to 50% of the cost of paper, and a reduction of milling production due to unforeseen paper mill closures. The last Increase in paper was September 2018.
To ensure HÂþ» achieves best value, this pricing was determined through a competitive bidding process. We will continue to monitor paper costs to look for cost savings in the coming months.
HÂþ» has adopted a which includes a commitment to the use of 100% post-consumer recycled paper as the university's base paper, along with recommendations to reduce the environmental and economic footprint of paper use. To help offset paper costs, please ensure that print devices are defaulted to duplex printing and copying and utilize the scan-to-email functionality on multifunctional devices to support the electronic transmission of documents.
The most economical and sustainable option for regular office paper continues to be 100% post-consumer paper procured through the university's fine paper contract, which can be ordered through Printing Services.
