Work Assignment:Ìý The sessional instructor will be responsible for the delivery of PHYT 5103: Movement and Exercise Science. PHYT 5103 is a mandatory physiotherapy course embedded within the fall term of year one in the MSc.PT curriculum and involves lectures and lab sessions. The timetable is set for this course. Lectures are scheduled on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 8:30 - 9:30 and the Laboratory class is scheduled from 9:30-12:30 on Monday mornings. The first day of Class is September 4th, 2019.
Students will develop and use a systematic process for integrating mechanical, anatomical and kinesiology knowledge to analyze human movement. Students will learn to apply basic mechanical concepts to human movements, and to relate these to physiotherapy assessments and interventions for people across the lifespan. Students also will analyze and learn basic physiotherapy techniques used to assess human movement and function. The instructor would work in partnership on this 3-credit hour course with guest lectures from the faculty in the School of Physiotherapy. The instructor will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class which includes lectures, labs, assignments, test preparation and evaluation of students. In addition, the instructor will hold regular office hours for consultation with students.
Requirements of position: PhD or Masters degree. ÌýPrevious teaching experience (especially with graduate students) preferred. Experience with online learning management systems (i.e. Brightspace) preferred. Experience in implementing working collaboratively with instructors and teaching assistants and in conveying the clinical relevance or application of knowledge to physiotherapy is an asset.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK: ÌýThe laboratory demonstrator/instructor will assist the course professor by teaching physical assessment, documentation, and/or treatment practical skills and techniques in the laboratory component of this course for Year I MSc PT students.Ìý The laboratory demonstrator/instructor will also be asked to act as an examiner in mid-term and final practical exams and evaluate the students' performance throughout the course and in these exams. Some additional hours may be required for preparation time and limited meeting time with the professor.
REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION(S):Ìý Candidates must be licensed Physiotherapists.

WORK ASSIGNMENT:Ìý PHYT 5114: Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy and Health Promotion [Fall term, September 3 – December 16, inclusive of Exam Period]
Provide service and teaching support in the Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy course, as part of the MSc Physiotherapy year one curriculum.
Duties include, but are not limited:
- Lab demonstration
- Assisting with set-up and tear-down of labs
- Assisting with examinations, including practical exams (OSCEs)
- Marking assignments
- Other duties, as required
REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Good interpersonal skills required to work with groups of students or for one-on-one interaction. Strong communication skills, a positive attitude toward students, fairness in evaluation and grading, flexibility in approaches to teaching. Completion of a degree in Physiotherapy, with experience in the area of cardiorespiratory physiotherapy, and enrollment.
