WORK ASSIGNMENT:Ìý Prepare "learning-by-experiment" activities and the material required for Teaching Assistants (TAs) to use during weekly tutorials. Each learning activity is linked to a text chapter. Meet with the TAs each week to outline the learning activity for the upcoming week and ensure they have a full understanding of the material, how to engage students, and deliver the activity. Periodically visit each of the tutorial sessions to observe the delivery and organization of the activity and give each of the TAs feedback on the session(s). When necessary, meet with a TA, one-on-one, to coach and help the individual improve their delivery and engagement skills. ÌýDuties include training all teaching assistants (TAs) in a variety of capacities.Ìý Report periodically to the Principles Coordinator on the progress of tutorial sessions.Ìý In addition, the learning facilitator is required to help invigilate both the midterm and final exams and assist with exam marking. The learning facilitator is also responsible for recording the weekly tutorial attendance sheets, and to address any issues related to tutorials.
REQUIREMENTS:ÌýÌý A Masters in Economics is necessary as an absolute minimum qualification for this position, including excellent oral and written communication skills.Ìý Preference will be given to candidates who have taught Principles of Microeconomics and/or Macroeconomics.Ìý Applicants applying to the Department of Economics for the first time should provide the names of 3 references.
