POSITION: Part-Time Academic
DEPARTMENT/LOCATION: Chinese Studies
PAY RATE: As per CUPE Collective agreement

COURSE INFORMATION: Chinese 1031.03: Mandarin Chinese Part 1 &
Chinese 1032.03: Mandarin Chinese Part 2
Fall & Winter Terms 2017-2018 (September 1, 2017 – April 30, 2018)
Currently Scheduled: MWF 12:35-1:25 pm

WORK ASSIGNMENT: The part-time academic will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class, including admission, lectures, test preparation, evaluation, and electronic submission of grades. Instructors are expected to maintain reliable and constant communication with the administration of the Department, to be available for two hours per week for consultation with students, and to have students fill out the evaluation questionnaire at the end of the course.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Applicants should have native or near-native fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese and possess a graduate degree or other academic and/or professional qualifications deemed suitable for teaching the class. Previous teaching experience at the post-secondary level will be an asset.

Fall Term 2017-2018 (September 1, 2017 – December 31, 2017)
Currently Scheduled: MW 2:35-3:55 pm

WORK ASSIGNMENT: The part-time academic will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class, including admission, lectures, test preparation, evaluation, and electronic submission of grades. Instructors are expected to maintain reliable and constant communication with the administration of the Department, to be available for two hours per week for consultation with students, and to have students fill out the evaluation questionnaire at the end of the course. Instructors report to the Chairperson of the Department.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Applicants should have native or near-native proficiency in English and possess a graduate degree in Chinese Culture or a related field or other academic and/or professional qualifications deemed suitable for teaching the class. Knowledge of the Chinese language and previous teaching experience at the post-secondary level will be assets.
