The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) office is launching a safety management system this fall with a goal to allow more efficient management of the EHS requirements for Principal Investigators. The system which is called EHS Assistant is web-accessible and will initially contain HÂþ» issued biological and radiological permit data, with future phases incorporating chemical inventories, and MSDS’s. EHS Assistant is currently in use at several universities across the United States and Canada, including the University of Toronto, McGill and Memorial University.
EHS Assistant will help reduce the EHS administrative workload for Principal Investigators and facilitate consistent legislative compliance for the University. Principal Investigators will be able to update their information in “real-time†eliminating the need to periodically report their information.
Prior to system launch, we will be contacting select individuals to trial the system. Additional Principal Investigators will be contacted in a phased approach over the next 12 months to begin using the system. Throughout the implementation we will continue to provide updates and look forward to sharing feedback.
If you are interested in more information on the project please contact the EHS office at EHSATechSupport@Dal.Ca.
