HÂş» was well represented at last week’s Atlantic Association of College & University Student Services (AACUSS) annual conference in Dartmouth, with our acting vice-provost, Student Affairs being singled out for her contributions to student services. On Tuesday, June 23, Anne Forrestall was presented with the AACUSS Award of Merit—the association’s highest honour recognizing significant achievement, contribution, and development of student services and active participation in the association.
Working in student services at HÂş» and the University of New Brunswick for over 20 years, Anne has shown exceptional enthusiasm and dedication to all students. Her colleagues note admirably that, “Anne always uses the best interest of the students as her compass.â€
Anne first got involved with AACUSS 12 years ago, and was “blown away with how friendly, supportive, and giving the people were.†The benefits of being in the group, including becoming a better professional and having a regional support system, encouraged her to serve a five-year stint on the executive. Association members note that, “Anne gives freely of her time to her friends and colleagues across the region†and that “developing talent is her forté.†It’s no surprise that Anne actively encourages Student Services staff members to join AACUSS and benefit in the ways that she did.
“In some ways, I think I got an award for something that gave me more than I could ever give it,†she says.
Congratulations, Anne!
