Ebola virus update

Posted by Human Resources on September 8, 2014 in General Announcements

HÂþ»â€™s health community is aware of the challenges facing a number of countries that have been affected by the Ebola virus disease (EVD). The Public Health Agency of Canada has indicated that, at present, there are no confirmed cases of Ebola in Canada. In the unlikely event that cases should occur, Canada is currently following measures set out by the World Health Organization to detect, investigate, and manage related illnesses.

As a precautionary measure, Nova Scotia Public Health are asking that anyone who has recently (within 21 days prior to becoming ill) travelled to an Ebola-affected country in West or Central Africa to contact Nova Scotia’s tele-triage line, 811, if they become ill. The 811 line will do an initial EVD screening and engage the rest of the health system, starting with the appropriate Medical Officer of Health, as necessary.
Ìý
Furthermore, HÂþ»â€™s health care providers, in collaboration with Nova Scotia Public Health, are fully prepared to support the HÂþ» community in regards to the Ebola virus disease.
