Ìý
A reminder that there are two sessions planned on February 27 to discuss research support systems.
Ìý
From 2 until 3, Martin Kirk, Director of Research Services at the University of British Columbia, will discuss the UBC research services and research support model.Ìý In 2000, UBC and Dal had similar research funding. Today UBC has much more funding per professor than Dal. Dr. Kirk will discuss some of the ways UBC and other top universities have grown their external research funding over the last decade.Ìý He will speak about best practices adopted in ORS offices around the world, particularly the UBCÌý Research Services office and in the Departments and Faculties to move UBC into the top tier of research universities in Canada.
Ìý
From 3 until 4, Martha Crago, Vice President Research, will discuss the research support system at HÂþ». An Institutional Framework for the Support of Research (IFSR) document has been drafted over the past year in consultation with senior administration, Deans, Associate Deans Research and Chairs/Heads/Directors. The IFSR document is available here:
.
The IFSR was developed to operationalize and enhance research support mechanisms at HÂþ». The IFSR provides an overview of research services and support at HÂþ» and proposes activities and initiatives in central services and in the Faculties, Departments and Schools to help enhance and increase our research activity and success.
Ìý
Both sessions will take place in Room #303, Student Union Building, 6136 University Avenue, Studley Campus.
