We are very pleased to announce that the HÂþ» University Department of Emergency Medicine, in collaboration with the Capital Health’s well resourced Skills Centre for Health Sciences, held its first Halifax Resuscitation Course on Wednesday, November 27, 2013.Ìý Ìý
The course was very successful and well received. Ìý
With the assistance of HÂþ» University, Continuing Medical Education, this course was fully registered well ahead of time, with 31 Physicians and 6 Nurses from various sites around the Maritimes and as far away as British Columbia and Iqaluit.Ìý Participant feedback and post course evaluation by participants revealed a high level of engagement and satisfaction.
Our strong and committed group of Emergency and Intensivist Physicians, Nurses and Paramedics facilitated our participants in hands-on life saving procedures. Clinical grade cadavers and high-fidelity mannequins were used to enhance participants’ learning experiences with both adult and pediatric scenarios.
The course goal was to cover a broad spectrum of critical patient safety initiatives and apply the teamwork principles entrenched in crisis resourse management. Critical life-threatening events are relatively infrequent and this course provided the appropriate environment to safely practice high stress scenarios and skilled critical procedures.
We are very proud of our team and will be offering similar courses in 2014! Details will be advertised on and via HÂþ» University, Continuing Medical Education communications.
