Instructor postings: School of Physiotherapy

Applicants are invited for two Limited Term Positions at the Instructor level in the School of Physiotherapy starting November 1, 2013. These are academic positions that encompass teaching and administration. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. These are fixed term positions.

The first is a 32-month limited term position (1.0 FTE) as the Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education (ACCE). The ACCE is responsible for ensuring that clinical experiences are appropriate and complement the HÂþ»­ physiotherapy program curriculum, and works closely with clinical sites in public and private practice settings to organize, administer, review and monitor the clinical placements of students in the MScPT program. In working with a variety of stakeholders, the ACCE is able to develop Clinical Instructor (CI) networks, foster CI relationships, and negotiate and resolve conflicts. This position requires a physiotherapist with a completed post entry-to-practice graduate level degree in physiotherapy or a related field. Eligibility for licensure with the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapy is also essential. A minimum of five years of clinical experience, including experience as a clinical instructor (CI) and/or center coordinator of clinical education (C! CCE) is required. Applicants must demonstrate a willingness to establish/maintain involvement in scholarly/professional activities; ongoing participation in continuing physiotherapy education courses; and a dedication to excellence and innovation in curriculum delivery. The desirable candidate for this position demonstrates excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, effective oral and written communication skills, leadership skills and the ability to take initiative, be flexible and work independently.

The second is a 1-year limited term position (0.5 FTE). The Instructor works closely with faculty members to create an efficient and effective learning environment for physiotherapy students. The position requires a completed master’s degree in physiotherapy and eligibility for licensure with the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapy. Applicants will have a specialty area of practice (neuroscience, musculoskeletal, or cardiorespiratory) and will also have a general understanding of most aspects of physiotherapy practice. Previous teaching experience (classroom, clinical, in-service or continuing education) and a record of involvement in scholarly/ professional activities is strongly required. The desirable candidate for this position is self-directed, has good organizational, communication (oral and written), strong computer literacy skills (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), and interpersonal and time management skills, along with excellent clinical competency ski! lls.
