As per the Research Laboratory Safety Policy Manual (p. 15), laboratory supervisors are responsible for conducting annual inspections in laboratories under their supervision and for resolving health and safety problems identified during these inspections (http://safety.dal.ca/resources/policies_procedures.php).
Copies of the inspection report shall be provided to the departmental chair and to the HÂþ» Environmental Health and Safety Office. As part of the self-inspection, chemical inventory for the laboratory must also be forwarded to the Safety Office. (http://safety.dal.ca/resources/)
All laboratory inspections must be submitted by June 30, 2013.
Regular laboratory inspections play a key role in preventing accidents and injuries by identifying hazards, implementing corrective measures and monitoring the effectiveness of the controls.
