PART-TIME ACADEMIC POSTING

WORK ASSIGNMENT:
A part-time instructor is needed to teach Italian 1010 (03) for the fall term of the 2013-2014 academic year (1 September 2013-31 December 2013).

The selected applicant will teach the basic components of Italian grammar (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) to students with no previous background in Italian.Ìý As instructor, the candidate will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class, including lectures, test preparation, evaluation and electronic submission of grades. Instructors are expected to maintain reliable and constant communication with the administration of the Department, to be available for two hours per week for consultation with students, and to have students fill out the evaluation questionnaire at the end of the course.Ìý Instructors report to the Chairperson of the Department.
REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:
At least a Master's degree in Italian, plus previous teaching experience. Native or near-native competence in Italian.Ìý There is a requirement for an interview for all candidates who have not previously been interviewed for a position at the 1010 level, who have never held a full time position in the department or who are not retired faculty. Any candidate has a right to be re-interviewed for each new hiring cycle but must specifically request this. In addition to a letter of application, candidates may submit any supporting document they deem relevant, such as a CV, student evaluations, etc. Interviews will be conducted face to face or, exceptionally, by telephone.
