Residence Donships 2013‑14, University of King's College

Posted by University of King's College on February 22, 2013 in Job Postings

The University of King’s College invites applications for Residence Donships for the 2013-14 academic year.

Dons exercise general disciplinary duties within the precincts of the College, especially within their designated Bay or Floor. They are expected to make a significant contribution to the intellectual life of the College and to assist students through programming initiatives, individual support and referrals, and through initial crisis response. Together the dons form the core of the residence staff team, working together on a daily basis to coordinate their efforts as a team and as individuals. Dons are also required to attend bi-weekly staff meetings.

Applicants should have an undergraduate degree of at least one year’s standing and interest in being members of a small, dynamic university community. Former students of the College are expected to have at least one year between graduation and taking up the position.

Remuneration is a furnished two room suite (with private bath), a meal plan, and full access to all College amenities. Dons’ accommodations are best suited to single people.

Dons are expected to be fully moved in to their accommodations no later than August 21, 2013.

Dons must be available and on campus during specific dates throughout the year. These include:
•    August 22 to 30, 2013: Mandatory residence staff training.
•    August 31 to September 7, 2013: Orientation week for new students.
•    December 17, 2013: Dons may leave for the holiday break.
•    January 5, 2014: Dons must return to campus for the Winter term.
•    April 28, 2014: Dons may leave residence.
•    May 30, 2014: Don appointment officially ends.

This is a one year appointment with the potential for annual re-appointment for a further two years.

Application packages are available from the front desk of Alexandra Hall, the Residence Office (3rd floor New Academic Building) on the King’s College campus, or online (PDF download) at www.ukings.ca, under ‘HÂþ» King’s’, ‘Employment Opportunities’. Full applications, together with covering letter, curriculum vitae or resume, and the names of three referees, should be mailed or delivered in person to the address below and received no later than April 8, 2013.
