The HÂþ» Tigers are excited to announce the name of the new events centre: the Oulton-Stanish Centre.

Named after two of our distinguished alumni, the Oulton-Stanish Centre will be a space that brings people together from the HÂþ» campus and beyond. This stunning facility is thoughtfully designed to serve the varied needs of our diverse campus and the local communities. The centre will be the new home of the HÂþ» Tigers women's and men's hockey teams and the ringette team. It will also be the new home of the HÂþ» Physiotherapy Clinic.

A member of the HÂþ» Sport Hall of Fame in the builder category,  was a HÂþ» art history and economics student from 1962-66. During his time at HÂþ», he was also a member of the varsity football and hockey teams. Impressive both on the ice and on the field, Oulton was honoured by HÂþ» in 1963 as football’s Lineman of the Year and later selected as the hockey team MVP in the 1965-66 season.

Fellow Tiger  is also a member of the Sport Hall of Fame for his feats as a football and hockey player at HÂþ» from 1963-67. Twice he was selected as the top male athlete at HÂþ», receiving the Climo Award in 1964-65 and again 1966-67, which was the first time there was a repeat award winner. In recognition of his achievements Stanish was also recognized as HÂþ»â€™s Most Inspirational Athlete in 1967, a citation that merited a special page in the Pharos that year.

Your generosity helps bring our community together.

Construction updates

In the email there was also four updates from the construction of the centre:

  • The Centre is in the early stages of earthwork, civil work, and the placing of concrete foundations. These activities will continue through to the end of March 2024.
  • The construction team is reviewing trade package documents and tendering for the following work: envelope cladding, curtain wall and entrances, roofing, mechanical and electrical.
  • The structural steel erection will start in late March to early April 2024. At this point, the building will begin to look like a structure.
  • Rock excavation for the footprint of the building is progressing but we have encountered large pockets of very dense rock that has slowed things down slightly.
