Food trucks, drinks and live music on Studley Quad, a football game at Wickwire Field, and an immersive gala-dinner event downtown.
Those are just a few of the many events and activities students, alumni and others are invited to attend as part of Dal's 2018 Homecoming celebrations later this week.
"We are excited to have so many different opportunities for Dalhousians to celebrate and show their school spirit this year, especially as we mark our 200th anniversary," says Ivan Joseph, Dal's vice-provost of student affairs.
And thanks to a new partnership between Dal, police and the city this year, neighbourhood safety will be top of mind the entire weekend.
Outreach efforts from Dal and Halifax Regional Police are already underway in residential neighbourhoods around Dal to remind students of municipal and provincial laws, and the potential fines and criminal charges that could arise from violations.
An expanded police presence in surrounding neighbourhoods for the duration of Homecoming 2018 will seek to ensure safe and responsible behaviour, penalizing those who violate the rules.Â
“We are excited for our students and community members to share together in the spirt of homecoming, which is about reconnecting with friends, the university and the great city of Halifax," says Dr. Joseph.
"We are happy to collaborate with all partners to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all our students, guests and our neighbors."
