Shannay Beals, Track and Field
Third-year sprinter Shannay Beals is this week’s G2 Female Athlete of the Week.
Shannay was the top Tiger at the CIS track and field championships at York over the weekend, leading the Tigers to an 11th place team finish.
After running a 7.61 to place second in her heat, Shannay went on to a bronze medal finish in the 60m dash final. She crossed the line with a time of 7.54, earning her first career CIS medal.
Shannay is from Halifax, N.S., and is a kinesiology student.

Matthew Coolen, Track and Field
First-year sprinter Matthew Coolen is this week’s G2 Male Athlete of the Week.
Matthew had two fourth place finishes at his first CIS championship meet, leading the Tigers to an eighth place team finish.
In his first race of the meet, Matthew came second in his heat of the 60m dash, posting a time of 6.82. In the final, he narrowly missed the podium, clocking a time of 6.83 to take fourth place.
The next day, Matthew placed third in his heat of the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.32. He narrowly missed the podium again, posting a time 8.31 to take fourth in the final.
A native of Halifax, N.S., Matthew is an engineering student.
