The top of the leader board was all HÂþ» as Ellen Chappell finished over 30 seconds ahead of the competition to lead the Tigers to their second consecutive and fourth AUS championship in the last five years at Point Pleasant Park. She was joined by a trio of Tigers shortly after as Colleen Wilson, Brittany MacArthur and Maddy Crowell finished second, third and fourth.

Emily Ferguson and Emily Clarke finished side by side in sixth and seventh place, and Kayte Kowal finished in tenth to round things out for the Tigers, who had all seven runners finish before many schools had anyone cross the finish line.

Head coach Rich Lehman received his second consecutive women’s cross country coach of the year award.

Preparation now begins for the CIS championship on November 8th at Memorial University.

Men's Cross Country

The men's cross country team couldn't repeat the success enjoyed by the women but can hold their heads high as they finished second behind the StFX X-Men. Matt McNeil finished just nine seconds off the lead, coming in second place. Nick Wood and Matthias Mueller cracked the top ten as they came in seventh and tenth, respectively.

Angus MacIntosh finished 15th and Graeme Wach finished 23rd to round things out for the Tigers.

Women's Hockey

Elizabeth MacArthur scored her fourth goal in as many games but it wasn't enough as they fell 4-1 to the StFX X-Women. The Tigers got down 3-0 in the first period and just couldn't recover. MacArthur's goal in the second period cut the lead to 3-1, but the X-Women added another one late to extend their lead once again.

Jessica Severeyns had 32 saves in the loss for the Tigers, who will look to get back above .500 when theyface the UPEI Panthers at home on November 1st.

Men's Hockey

The Tigers got their first win of the season on Saturday against the St. Thomas Tommies, and they did so in thrilling fashion.

Down 4-1 early in the second period, Fabian Walsh and Mitch O'Neill both scored just 13 seconds later to cut the lead to one.  Ben MacAskill scored a power play goal six minutes into the third, and Kendall MacInnis added one of his own to make it 5-4.O'Neill added his second of the game soon after as the Tigers rattled off five straight goals to win 6-4. Walsh and Tanner Williams each had a goal and two assists to lead the Tigers.

On Friday, the Tigers faced the UPEI Panthers in Charlottetown and despite tying the game at two in the third period after being down 2-0, the Panthers added two more goals in the third period to seal the deal.

The Tigers now sit at 1-5 on the season and will face the University of Moncton on Halloween night at the Halifax Forum. Puck drop is at 7:00pm.

Women's Soccer

It wasn't the best weekend for the Tigers as they finished with a tie and a loss as they prepare for the AUS championship.

On Saturday, the Tigers controlled play for the majority of the game against the StFX X-Women but they just couldn't find the back of the net as they played to a scoreless draw. Katie Morgan recorded her fifth shutout of the season for the Tigers, only having to make two saves all game.

On Sunday, the Tigers suffered a heart-breaking last-second loss at the hands of the Memorial Sea-Hawks in their final game of the regular season. After getting down 1-0 in the first half, Victoria Parkinson scored her sixth goal of the season midway through the second half to tie the game at one.

Then, in the final minute, Hannah Rivkin scored her second goal of the game to give the Sea-Hawks a 2-1 lead as time expired.

The Tigers now look toward the AUS championship, which they host. The 0-1-1 weekend drops them into the fifth seed, and they will take on the fourth-seeded Acadia Axewomen in their opening match on Friday.

Come on out and trick or treat with the Tiger at Friday’s game at 2:00pm at Wickwire Field.

Men's Soccer

It was a heart-breaking weekend for the Tigers as they finished just one point out of playoff contention in star striker Tyler Lewars' final games with the black and gold. It also marked the end of starting keeper Jason Ross and defender Ryan Lewars' careers.

They faced the StFX X-Men in a do-or-die contest on Saturday, and just couldn't seem to find the back of the net as they ran into two red-hot StFX keepers. After the X-Men scored off a free kick in the first half, the Tigers just couldn't bury an equalizer. The Tigers had six shots on goal in the loss.

On Sunday, the Tigers played a spirited contest against the Memorial Sea-Hawks. After Will Wright scored just four minutes in for the Tigers, it only seemed right as Tyler Lewars scored in his final game of his career to extend the lead to 2-0. Lewars' goal was his 14th career goal with the black and gold.

Memorial would add a goal of their own, but Bezick Evraire squashed any hope of a comeback with a goal in the 81st minute. Evraire finished the year with seven goals, more than double his previous season-high tally of three.

Women's Volleyball

It was a less than ideal weekend for the Tigers as they went 0-4 in the first AUS-RSEQ interlock event of the year. In their first contest against Sherbrooke, Anna Dunn-Suen and Mieke Dumont combined for 17 kills but it wasn't enough as they fell 3-1 (25-19, 25-17, 24-26, 25-22).

In their next game against McGill, Dunn-Suen and Jane Delahunt each had 12 kills but they just couldn't keep up to the relentless McGill attack and they went down in straight sets (25-20, 25-16, 25-18). Later in the day they faced the Montreal Carabins. After losing two nail-biter sets to begin the game, the Carabins simply outdueled the Tigers in the third set to give them a 3-0 victory (25-21, 25-20, 25-12).

Looking to salvage a victory in their final game against Laval, the Tigers could only manage seven points in the first set. The next two sets were close, but the Rouge et Or sent the Tigers packing with another 3-0 loss (25-7, 25-16, 25-22).

The Tigers will open their regular season on the road against UNB on November 1 at 6:00pm.

Men's Volleyball

The men's team has a great interlock event, going 3-0 as they only dropped one set all weekend. They started off on Friday against Montreal, winning three straight sets (25-18, 25-21, 25-21) in a truly balanced attack. Alex Dempsey, Matthew Donovan, Connor Maessen, Kristen O'Brien and Bryan Duquette all had at least seven kills for the Tigers.

In their first game on Saturday, the Tigers dropped the first set against Sherbrooke 28-26 before the momentum shifted and they put away the next three sets in authoritative fashion, allowing an average of just 13 points as they cruised to a 3-1 (26-28, 25-16, 25-8, 25-15) win.

They finished things off with a 3-0 (28-26, 25-19, 25-22) victory over Laval. After a thrilling first set, the Tigers willed their way to two more victories as they put the Rouge et Or away in straight sets. The win must have felt especially good for Dan Ota's squad, who were eliminated in their first game in last year's CIS championship at the hands of Laval.

The Tigers will begin their regular season when they face the UNB Varsity Reds on November 1 at 8:00pm.

Women’s Basketball

The Tigers headed to Maine this weekend for two games against UMaine-Fort Kent and Presque Isle. Courtney Thompson led the Tigers to 79-62 victory over UMFK with 27 points. Rebecca Nuttall and Robbi Daley each added 10 points while Tessa Stammberger and Nuttall each had six rebounds.

Sunday’s game was canceled due to injuries to the Presque Isle team, so the Tigers had a scrimmage with a local men’s team.
