H University women’s hockey head coach Sean Fraser is pleased to announce the commitment of three Metro Boston Pizza Midget AAA women’s hockey players to the Tigers 2013-14 lineup.
Lisa MacLean, a forward in her first year with Metro Boston Pizza (MBP,) led the league with seven goals and seven assists during the playoffs. She was third in points during the regular season, accumulating 31 despite only playing in 14 games.
The Inverness, N.S. native previously played with the Subway Northern Storm AAA team and is a former league MVP and all-star.
“I’m really excited about coming to H,” says MacLean. “It seems like a great school, and I hope to have an impact on the women’s hockey program while I am there.”
Also a forward, Victoria MacIntosh is in her second year with MBP. She was fourth in the league with 28 points over 24 games in the regular season. The honours student is also a member of her high school hockey team and will be entering the kinesiology program next fall.
“I am looking forward to playing for the Tigers next year,” says MacIntosh. “I am ready to work hard and bring everything I have to the team in search of success.”
A three-year veteran with MBP, Rachel Carr led all defensemen in the league in points during the regular season posting five goals and six assists. The Halifax, N.S. native is an honours student who has been accepted into H’s business management program.
“I am very grateful to have been given the opportunity to study business at one of the most respected faculties in the country,” says Carr. “I am also extremely excited to represent H as a member of the women’s hockey team. I can’t wait to bring my game up to the next level, and most importantly, play with people that love the game just as much as I do!”
“I’m thrilled to welcome these three players to our lineup next fall,” says head coach Sean Fraser. “Lisa is a highly skilled forward with natural offensive talent that will help bolster our offense. Rachel is a speedy, offensive-minded defenseman who’s puck-handling and poise on the point will help steady an already strong defensive core. Victoria is a strong-skating power forward who will bring size and grit to the Tigers lineup. Her strong work ethic is exactly what I’m looking for.”
