It was an action packed weekend for the Tigers as they competed in 20 games both at home and on the road.

Women’s Soccer
DAL 3 @ SMU 0; UPEI 1 @ DAL 2; DAL 1 @ ACA 0

Women’s soccer had an exciting week earning three victories that puts them one point behind the AUS first place Capers. A dominant showing over Saint Mary’s on Wednesday set the tone for the Tigers with Joanna Blodgett scoring two of three goals for Dal. On the weekend, outstanding performances late in the game allowed Dal to come back from a one goal deficit against the Panthers and to find the back of the net after over 80 minutes of scoreless soccer in their match against Acadia.

Men’s Soccer

After a tough loss to AUS first place SMU on Wednesday, the men rallied to make a stand in the two matches that followed. On Saturday Dal played a back and forth game against UPEI that ended in a 2-2 draw. Keeper Jason Ross’ performance in the second half kept the Tigers in contention. In Sunday’s match against Acadia goals just minutes apart by Nathan Rogers and Bezick Evraire gave Dal the 2-0 victory that propelled them into third place in the AUS standings.

Women’s Basketball
SMU 76 @ DAL 65; Windsor 69 @ DAL 55; Acadia 78 @ DAL 61

Dalplex hosted Acadia, Saint Mary’s and Windsor for the 2012 Subway Centennial Tournament over the weekend. The Tigers proved to be tenacious opponents putting in an exhausting effort on the court. Keisha Brown was named to the tournament all-star team for her efforts over the weekend.

Men’s Basketball
DAL 61 @ Laval 67; DAL 75 @ Queen’s 77; DAL 62 @ Carleton 96

Over the weekend men’s basketball visited Ottawa, Ont. for the House-Laughton Tournament hosted by Carleton University. Two close games on Friday and Saturday made for a tough weekend as the Tigers found themselves unable to shut down Carleton’s three-point game on Sunday.

Women’s Hockey
DAL 2 @ SMU 1; DAL 0 @ StFX 5

Women’s hockey had a great start to their season with a win over rivals Saint Mary’s on the road Saturday with power play goals by Megan O’Neil and Miranda McMillan. On Sunday the black and gold matched up against a formidable StFX team that was able capitalize on two power play goals in the first period and shutout the Tigers offence.

Men’s Hockey
DAL 2 @ SMU 5; ACA 5 @ DAL 4

In men’s hockey Dal played two games at the Forum over the weekend. After Friday’s loss to a determined Huskies team, the Tigers dug deep and came out aggressively against the Axemen Saturday night. Taking the lead from the start, forward Patrick Daley scored two goals and an assist to help maintain the upper hand until Acadia tied it up in the third and then scored four minutes into overtime for the win.

Women’s Volleyball
DAL 1 @ Ottawa 3; DAL 3 @ CBU 0; DAL 3 @ Queen's 1

On the road in Ontario the women’s volleyball team attended the Queen’s University Invitational. After a close four sets in Friday’s loss to Ottawa, the Tigers found their rhythm and hammered their remaining two opponents (Cape Breton and Queens) to finish the weekend with a 2-1 record.

Cross Country
UNB/St. Thomas Invitational

On Saturday the cross country teams competed in Fredericton, N.B. against AUS teams as well as schools from RSEQ. The women ran with exceptional pace, besting AUS rivals StFX and finishing in second place behind McGill. Holly Van Gestel finished second overall and is set to defend her AUS title on October 27. Matt McNeil led the men with a fifth place finish that carried the team to third place at the meet.
