There are only a few weeks to go before the HÂþ» University United Way campaign blitz comes to an end. The campaign has almost hit the $100,000 mark – halfway to its $200,000 goal. Organizers hope that late-campaign donations will help propel the effort closer to that target.

And although the 50/50 draw has yet to take place, some members of the Dal community are already winners thanks to their generous contribution to the United Way through the early bird draw.

Andrea McCormick, technology manager with Industry Liaison and Innovation, is the winner of the 12-month, reserved outdoor parking spot this year. She says winning the parking pass was a wonderful surprise.

“Never having won anything before, this was great news!†she says. “I think there are a lot of great causes to donate both your time and money to and it's often difficult to choose. However, because HÂþ» University is strongly linked to the United Way, I like to support this cause.â€

Karen Tobin, who works in the Registrar’s Office, is the winner of the lunch for four at the University Club.

“I've never gone to the University Club for lunch before so I'm very much looking forward to it, “she says. “ I give to the United Way because if my small payroll contribution assists in any way, that's what matters. With the United Way, people can make whatever contribution they wish. There's no pressure to come up with a certain amount or go beyond ones means. It's all about what you can give, small or big. I also benefit by getting to wear my jeans on Casual Fridays so it's a win-win situation!â€

Penelope David, from the Kellogg Library, is the winner of the one-year family pass to Dalplex.

There’s still time to enter your name into the 50/50 draw taking place at the closing event on November 25. The noon-hour event will take place in the Henry Hicks building foyer with trivia, cake and prizes to be won. Be sure to check out the for other exciting events happening over the next few weeks.

The campaign thanks everyone who's donated so far. They also remind those who made a donation last year through payroll deduction that those donations are not perpetual beyond a year. Staff or faculty who wish to donate can do so at , where you can also download a paper form if you're prefer to donate offline. You can also see and obtain a copy.
