Dinner supports varsity program at Dal

- March 29, 2011

David Andrews, president and CEO of the American Hockey League, will be the guest speaker at the sixth annual Dal Tigers Dinner and Auction on Thursday, April 7 at the World Trade and Convention Centre.

Mr. Andrews, a former Dal Tiger, was named a 2010 recipient of the prestigious Lester Patrick Trophy, presented annually for contributions to hockey in the United States. Now in his 17th season with the AHL, the Nova Scotia native has also been honoured with induction into the British Columbia Hockey Hall of Fame in 2005, and the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame in 2006.

During his playing days as a goaltender, Andrews was a conference all-star and MVP at both HÂþ» University and the University of British Columbia. He played four years professionally for RAAK in the Dutch first division after his university career.

Presented by HÂþ» University's Department of Athletics and Recreational Services and presenting partner, Molson Canadian, the event will start with a reception to view silent and live auction items, followed by a three-course dinner and live auction.

In his 17th season as president and CEO of the American Hockey League (AHL), Nova Scotia native David Andrews continues to guide the AHL into unequaled times of prosperity, directing the league to record levels of attendance and exposure while expanding its geography across the United States and Canada.
