Justin Timberlake, Gwen Stefani, the Dixie Chicks and... Dal? Visitors to HÕs web site can now download H-produced audio and video content using AppleÕs popular iTunes software.
iTunesU will bring many aspects of the campus to the world. Public lectures, university events and sports highlights will all be available for download. If itÕs happening at H, you donÕt have to be on campus to experience it first hand.
Communications and MarketingÕs June Davidson says the innovative venture is the latest in a strategic effort to reach current and potential students in ways that are relevant to them.
ÒOur decision to participate in iTunes U is in keeping with our efforts to speak to prospective students where they are. iTunes is really popular with the students we want to reach, so it makes sense that we would have a presence there.”
The iTunes U project will also act as another piece in the universityÕs recruitment marketing strategy, an edgy campaign the university hopes will be relevant to students. A section called ÒSee Us Now” will make available trailers, promotional clips for the university and even DalÕs original rock song, all for easy download right onto your iPod.
H is one of the first Canadian universities to take part in the program. Other universities with a presence in iTunes U include schools such as Princeton, Yale and Johns Hopkins. H will be the first university in the region to launch iTunes U.
In this first phase of DalÕs iTunes U presence, users can access audio and video files to use at their desktop or in portable MP3 devices. There is no charge for viewing and downloading H content.
