The Calculation of the Magnetic Field Due to Two-Dimensional Geologic Structures
(PDF - 78 Mb)
A method of calculating the magnetic field profile due to a two dimensional geologic structure is described.
The results of preliminary remanent magnetism studies on rocks of the George River Group, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia are given, showing a relatively low remanent magnetism and susceptibility for most rock studies.
An attempt to apply the method to a section over Crowdis Mountain, Cape Breton gives largely inconclusive results; however it seems to indicate that a large overthrust of George River rocks over the Horton Group of Mississippian age is possible.
