The Podium represents a collection of fine academic work representing the best of what King’s and HÂþ» students have to offer. Edited by the student-operated DUPSS Academic Committee, a complete edition of the journal is published every year to showcase a mosaic of student essays.
Papers are selected on the basis of originality of research, conceptual innovation, relevance of subject matter, and overall quality of writing. For these reasons, submissions that have received a grade of 80% or above in an upper-level course are favoured.
As the Journal will publish as many essays as possible, do not hesitate to submit – publications look great on a resume, and peer-editing can be a fantastic avenue to refine your writing skills and improve your essay overall.
Submission Deadline: January 8th (first day of 2nd academic term)
Submission Requirements:
- Maximum 4000 words
- APA, MLA, or Chicago Style Citations
- High Academic Quality (A- or above)
- Current or former HÂþ» and Kings students
Submissions and questions can be e-mailed to dupssacademicjournal@gmail.com.
NOTE: The Podium’s published writers will have the opportunity to participate in a formal Podium Launch organized by the HÂþ» University Political Science Society in collaboration with the Political Science Department. A People’s Choice Award will be granted to a chosen author for having demonstrated exemplary academic work. DATE AND LOCATION TBA (for information and updates on this event, please email dupssacademicjournal@gmail.com, or follow the DUPSS Facebook Page).
