Architecture
The School of Architecture hosted the 2014 Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA) Fall Conference in Halifax. This conference considers the potential of Design-Build in post secondary education. This conference is the third in a series of international conferences funded with grants totaling over $3 million. It was co-chaired by a Ted Cavanagh, a HÂþ» professor well versed in the importance of design build curriculum and teaching. The conference attracted speakers and presenters from all over the world, resulting in nearly two hundred attendees. Due to the efforts of many, HÂþ» is now well-recognized as a centre of design-build education.
Planning
The School of Planning hosted the  annual Plan out Loud event in April. It was a successful day of presentations and exhibits of student work by students across all years and both programs. The School also hosted  Shift Rural in March, the annual School of Planning student run conference. A Pecha Kucha event held at the Wolfville, Farmers Market kicked off the event. The School participated in the Carmichael Lecture with the Halifax Downtown Business Commission who invited Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi. Zita Cobb of the Shorefast Foundation was the conference Key Note speaker and many others joined to explored the challenges and opportunities for rural communities now and in the future. The event was concluded with a Local Food Fest.
