The wonderful RBC representatives donated their time last Tuesday, for the third year in a row, helping students refine their resumes for the upcoming AggieWIL Employment/Internship Fair.
Sarah Boss, the Branch Manager from the Truro bank and her colleagues Todd, Susan, Todd and Susan (#2), spoke with 42 students individually, at 15 minute intervals throughout the day.
This annual addition to the work integrated learning offerings on campus, is an important opportunity for our students to hear from industry professionals, what types of information are important to include. In some cases, this event helps the students see that what they have accomplished thus far does have relevance in their potential careers. For example, Sabrina hadn’t realized that all of the volunteer work that she had done and the fact that she had started her own business, is actually “work” experience and demonstrates her transferrable skills.
Prior to the RBC Resume Review, representatives from Nova Scotia Works have come to campus twice to give students a workshop on resume basics. Aaron Devine and Tara Firth, graciously offered their expertise, and will be here again on January 31st at 3:30 p.m. in Haley 254, to make up for a canceled workshop due to snow.
All of these opportunities culminate into the Annual AggieWIL Employment/Internship Fair happening this year over the course of three days, February 3-5.
Many of the 22 scheduled employers will be here for at least two of the days, set up in the Student Learning Commons and ready to speak with students about summer jobs, internships and careers. Encourage students to attend and to partake in the for credit internship course, AGRI 2001, where they can adjust a summer job into a valuable learning experience.
