Posted by Stephanie Rogers on September 29, 2015 in News

This year we are pleased to have two colleagues visiting us from our Chinese partner university, Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University.

Ms Yahnua Ding, Assistant Registrar in the Overseas College (OEC) is here from September to December 2015.Ìý Yanhua has already participated in the International Welcome and Orientation activities; this will help her explain to students coming from FAFU what some of the early cultural and university adaptation involves. She will be meeting with colleagues in our Enrollment Services Office as well as Student Services and around campus so that she develops a good understanding of Dal-AC. Part of her role is to help design some activities that will assist our international students to mix with, and get to know, the domestic students in residence. Yanhua will also spend some time in Halifax this fall meeting our other HÂþ» colleagues.Ìý She has a desk in Student Services and her Dal email is yanhua.ding@dal.ca. Of course, she and the students will also be at the Moon Festival on Sunday September 20th, Alumni Gardens, 3-6 pm. All are welcome to join the celebration!

We are also pleased to introduce Ms Lan Chen is our first FAFU visitor directly linked to the new 3+1 B. Tech. Landscape Architecture articulation program. She will spend 12 months with our campus (September 2015-August 2016). At FAFU, Lan is in the Department of Urban and Rural Planning and has expertise in Landscape and Tourism Planning. At FAFU she teaches the following courses:Ìý Infrastructure and Municipal Construction, Urban Geography, and Detailed Zoning of Urban Communities. While at Dal-AC she is collaborating with Tracey MacKenzie and the other instructors involved in the B. Tech. Landscape Architecture. ÌýShe will assist with the planning and coordination of courses that will be taught by Dal-AC to students at FAFU. To help with mutual exchange of information and teaching practices she will be involved with Environmental Process and Natural Landscape Functions, Arboriculture, Residential and Landscape Design & Construction, and the two semester sequence of Environmental Studies. Lan is hoping to bring her 4 year old son to Canada so he too can experience Canadian culture. Her HÂþ» email is lanchen@dal.ca and her office is Cox 217.

Welcome to both Yanhua and Lan!
