ERA‑Can+ INFORMATION SESSION

Posted by Stephanie Rogers on September 4, 2015 in News, Research

HÂþ» Research Services invites you to an upcoming information session with representatives from the ERA-Can+ (European Research Area and Canada Plus) project, to learn more about Horizon 2020 - the main research funding instrument of the European Commission that is accessible to Canadians working in science, technology, and innovation as well as in the social sciences and humanities.

ERA-Can+ has been established to help Canadians access Horizon 2020 funding. Building on several years of successful collaboration, ERA-Can+ will encourage bilateral exchange, enrich the EU-Canada policy dialogue, enhance coordination between European and Canadian sector leaders, and stimulate transatlantic collaboration by increasing awareness of the funding opportunities available.

ERA-Can+ is offering information sessions across the country, and will be in Halifax on Wednesday 23 September, in the Atrium of the HÂþ» Life Sciences Research Institute (1344 Summer Street) from 9.00 am - noon.  An agenda for this session is attached.

The session will explain the structure of research funding in Europe and provide information on upcoming funding opportunities, as well as the means by which Canadian researchers and industry can participate. Particular attention will be given to research in the socio-economic sciences and humanities, and the grant opportunities of the European Research Council.

Afterwards, there will be breakout groups established, providing an opportunity for interested researchers and industry representatives to meet with the National Contact Points (NCPs) for Information Communications Technologies, the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions program (which allows faculty to bring European postdocs to Canada, and provides opportunities for Canadian researchers to spend time in European institutions) and EUREKA (an intergovernmental network coordinating industrial R&D support, which can extend the reach of Canadian companies into Europe).

This event is free and open to any interested participant, but registration is required; to register; please visit .
