Dal's Transatlantic Ocean System Science and Technology (TOSST) summer school took grad students to West Africa to learn about how communities interact with the marine environment.
The HÂþ» CERC team has recently successfully performed a test of the moored profiling device known at the SeaCycler. After a large over haul which included a complete redesign of several major components it completed a total of 27 profiles in the 70 m deep Bedford basin.

After undergoing a dramatic makeover in a Dal lab, a one-of-a-kind ocean-based observatory known as the SeaCycler is planning to make its maiden voyage to the volatile Labrador Sea later this summer.

On June 18th, the Walther Herwig III departed from Bremerhaven, Germany to begin the 5 week expedition to the Irminger Sea. 33 CTD casts were preformed within the sampling area, which spanned the southern portion of the Irminger Sea.
